About This Program

The YMCA basketball program concentrates on the fundamentals of basketball: passing, dribbling, shooting, and defense, along with other necessary skills needed to become good basketball players. The Y's Youth Basketball Program is broken into two leagues — Mighty Mites and 1st/2nd Grade — both designed to prepare and instruct players on the fundamentals of the sport while playing in game situations.

Program Highlights

Mighty Mites League: Perfect for beginners — introduces boys and girls to dribbling, passing, and shooting in a fun, supportive environment. Focus on teamwork, sportsmanship, and building confidence.
1st & 2nd Grade League: Builds on basketball foundations with skill development in dribbling, shooting, defense, and passing. Games allow players to apply what they have learned in real competition.
Game Days: All games are held on Saturday mornings.
Sportsmanship First: Positive sportsmanship and teamwork are encouraged every step of the way.
